Two score and ten years ago….

was the last time the one cent coin or penny was redesigned.
This week, the U.S. Mint released a new design for the one hundred year old Lincoln penny in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth.
As you can see the obverse(head) of the redesigned penny is the same as its predecessors, bearing the likeness of President Lincoln by sculptor Victor David Brenner.
The reverse side of the coin, however, has been redesigned and features a log cabin symbolic of Lincoln’s humble roots in Kentucky.
