President Obama is embracing the world of mobile applications and is requiring all major federal agencies to do so as well. His May 23rd directive requires agencies to make at least two services available to the public via mobile applications within a year, as well as create a page on their websites to publicly report progress toward meeting these requirements within 90 days of the directive.
In conjuction with this directive, the administration’s Chief Information Officer, Steven VanRoekel, launched a roadmap to assist federal agencies in reaching these goals, entitled Digital Government: Building a 21st Century Platform to Better Serve the American People.
“Americans deserve a government that works for them anytime, anywhere, and on any device,” (Obama)
